You shouldn’t be doing things with people’s sketches and WIPs unless you have their permission, first, even if you don’t intend to sell/do anything at all with them. :C

Yeah, I’ve collabed with Coffee in the past, and so have other people - but ONLY when she’s politely and publicly asked for help and expressed the desire to collaborate.

Perhaps not off my desk but off my blog yeah. Actually I wouldn’t mind, but that’s just me 8D If Coffee feels at all uncomfortable with me posting that shaded ink, I will take it down of course! She didn’t seem bothered by me inking her sketch though, which is why I was emboldened enough to see what it looked like shaded. =3

Just because she “didn’t seem bothered” doesn’t mean she wasn’t, though! Some people prefer to be nice/non-confrontational, even in a situation where they’re uncomfortable…. especially if they’ve had a bad day. :/

You just really should ask first. :[ It’s always “better safe than sorry”, ESPECIALLY when it concerns art.

It would honestly tick me off so badly if someone just pulled something of mine without asking and did things to it .-.

Wow guys, I get the feeling I’m being attacked here. The pic was meant as a compliment/gift for Coffee. Not Mosh, not Tayzer, not Ryu. It’s not your sketch, and all you’re doing is making it very hard for Coffee to say anything. I already contacted her discreetly, and it’s really up to her to say how she feels, instead of jumping up in arms in her place. Why are you all jumping in on this when it doesn’t concern her? Don’t you realize what you’re doing is probably upsetting her more than me posting a small version of a shaded inked melo?

At least I know very clearly now who doesn’t like spontaneous gifts stemming from admiration for your art.

I almost get the feeling I did such a horrible job that I somehow mauled Coffee’s beautiful work and that’s why everyone’s mad at me. Is it that horrible that you hate it and need to rip it apart?

I actually think you did a really good job on the shading.

What we are all saying is your ‘gift’ could be construed, not as flattery  but is intellectual property theft.

And no, I wouldn’t appreciate the ‘gift’ of someone finishing one of my sketches without permission. I never post a sketch I don’t plan on lining and basing myself to sell, not an un-requested collab.
