Meet the Alligator Gar. This big fish can reach a length of 14 ft and weigh up to 350lbs. It can breathe both water and air (for up to 2 hours) and has been unchanged for over 100 million years.
oh look, another reason not to venture into the ocean. does anyone else have that fear?
I am wholeheartedly convinced that the greatest depths of the ocean contain creatures beyond anything we have ever imagined. Also, I am convinced all the creatures want to eat me.
Fun fact: Alligator gars are freshwater fish and are ambush predators, waiting in underwater vegetation until they have the opportunity to strike. Care for a swim? :)
I even think I see one of these guys and I hot foot it outta the creek. My toes are too precious to me. O.O
These guys are actually native to a lot of the bodies of water here. They can be pretty aggressive from what I’ve heard. #more reasons for me to never get in the water ever
