Slytherin Truths

So much this. I hate seeing confessions about people who are like “Oh, I agree with Pansy because she was just doing the right thing! You would’ve done the same, because Harry had to die anyway and it would’ve saved more lives!”

No, people, you’re completely wrong. That’s not an opinion when you state it that way, that’s just mistaking your facts. No one knew at the time that Harry had to die in order to kill off the last part of Voldemort. No one knew that he would come back. Voldemort’s not one to keep promises either, so there’s no guarantee that he wouldn’t have killed anyone if they’d handed Harry over straight away. Just look at Neville; look at the people that continued to resist. He would’ve killed without a second thought. He would’ve killed anyone who continued to put one toe out of line or had a single disagreement with him all throughout the years. He would’ve gotten rid of the other three Houses in favor of lumping everyone into Slytherin—and while I love my House, I know it’s not for everyone. I don’t want everyone in my House, because part of what makes Hogwarts so unique is how different people in it are represented.

Pansy didn’t do what she did because she was trying to stand up for her friends. She did it because she was a cowardly prick trying to save her own ass. Stop glorifying her like she’s just a misunderstood little heroine, because she’s not. She was a bully who laughed at other’s pain and misfortune, and unlike Draco, she never redeemed her ways—she never even started the bullying. She was always a follower, never a leader.

But ultimately, she was just scared shitless. And I, as a Slytherin, would not opt to live in fear or subservience of the Dark Lord or anyone else. Slytherins might be renowned for wanting to save themselves most of the time, but not all are that way. Look at Severus Snape and his love for Lily Evans, which far surpassed his own self-love and confidence.

So I agree wholeheartedly with this. Pansy doesn’t represent our House. Fuck Pansy Parkinson, I think for myself.
